The San Diego County Fair comes to Del Mar every year beginning early June through 4th of July. For those of us who are local area residents the crowds, parking issues, and traffic delays can be inconvenient. To offset the negative aspects of hosting the fair in town, we always make a point to attend and enjoy the many positives this yearly event has to offer.
Over the years we've enjoyed the 4H animal, gem, garden, and art exhibits, as well as the magic shows, dance shows, turkey races, butterfly interactions, concerts, games, rides and so much more.
The constant joy for us, year after year is fair food. Fair food is fun. When attending the San Diego County Fair, you seek out and enjoy foods you spend the rest of the year avoiding: corn dogs, cotton candy, ice cream, turkey legs, fried twinkies, kettle corn, etc. This year's fair theme "How Sweet It Is" is perfect as our food frenzy this year was focused on deserts. Each daughter chose a different sweet treat to savor, share and enjoy. Unicorn Cotton Candy was the first choice. This mile-high pink and blue mixture covered with rainbow-colored cereal was a crowd pleaser. A Blue Rasberry Slurpee was the second item chosen and last but not least, rainbow sprinkle covered chocolate ice cream. A ride on the carousel, some fantastic people watching and a magic show rounded out our experience this year.
We are so grateful that Shannon Henry from Studio Carre was able to join us this year to capture these beautiful images of the girls.
